Crispy Onion Mac ‘N Cheese

Ingredients
6 cups cooked gluten-free elbow macaroni, cooked according to package directions (about 10 ounces dry)
2 Tbsp butter
3 Tbsp gluten-free all-purpose flour
¼ cup chopped fresh chives plus additional for garnish
2 cups whole milk
1½ cups (6 oz) shredded sharp cheddar cheese
1 cup (4 oz) shredded Swiss cheese
2-3 plum tomatoes, seeded and diced (1 cup)
½ Tsp salt
¼ Tsp ground black pepper
1 container (3.5 oz) Lars Own® Gluten Free Organic French Fried Onions
Steps
- Preheat oven to 400°F. Cook pasta according to package directions; keep warm.
- Meanwhile, in a medium saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add flour and chives; cook and stir 2 minutes. Add milk; bring to a simmer, whisking constantly until thickened. Remove from heat and add cheese, tomatoes, salt and pepper; stir until cheese is melted. Fold in cooked macaroni.
- Spoon mixture into 6 small (8 oz) ramekins or one 2-quart casserole dish. Top with Lars Own® Gluten Free Organic French Fried Onions. If using ramekins, place onto a baking sheet. Bake in center of oven until onions are golden brown, 3-5 minutes.
Cook's tips
Lars Own® Crispy Onions can be used in place of Lars Own® Gluten Free Organic French Fried Onions, if desired.
