Ginger Snap Snowflakes

The classic white icing in this recipe dries crisp and adds a wonderful decorative touch to Lars Own® Swedish Ginger Snaps.


1½ tablespoons meringue powder

2 cups confectioners sugar

2½ tablespoons water

Additional water to thin icing to desired consistency

1 box (10.5 oz) Lars Own® Swedish Ginger Snaps


  1. Combine meringue powder, confectioners sugar and water; beat until smooth and thick.
  2. Beat on high speed for 3 minutes until shiny.
  3. Add additional water, ½ tsp at a time, to thin icing to desired consistency.
  4. Spoon icing into piping bag fitted with a very fine tip; decorate Ginger Snaps as desired.
  5. Allow icing to dry completely before storing cookies in an airtight container.

Cook's tips

1 large egg white or ⅛ cup pasteurized egg whites can be used in place of the meringue powder and water, if desired.

The final icing should flow smoothly from the piping bag and not spread on surface of Ginger Snaps.

To form snowflakes decorations, begin by piping 3 straight lines that intersect in the center of each Ginger Snap. Add details as desired, repeating pattern for all six points.
