Belgian Pearl Sugar Liege Waffles

1 packet (7g) rapid-rise (instant) yeast

¾ cup warm milk (100ºF)

3½ cups all-purpose flour (440g)

¼ cup brown sugar (50g)

1 tsp salt (8g)

2 large eggs, room temperature

2 tsp vanilla extract

2 sticks (8 oz) butter, softened

Cinnamon (optional)

8 ounces Lars Own® Belgian Pearl Sugar


  1. Dissolve yeast in warm milk and set aside until bubbly.
  2. Combine all ingredients except for Pearl Sugar in large mixing bowl; mix until well blended and a soft dough forms.
  3. Cover and let rise until doubled in size, 30-60 minutes.
  4. Stir in Pearl Sugar until evenly distributed.
  5. Divide dough into 12 equal portions (3.5 ounces each); form into patties and place on greased cookie sheet.
  6. Cover and allow to rise 15 minutes.
  7. Bake in preheated and greased waffle iron for 2-3 minutes or until deep golden brown.
